A brand-new sound from a dynamic songwriter

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - Independent queer artist and storyteller Allen Miller returns to the singer-songwriter landscape with a new pop sound with his latest single, “People Pretending to Be You” out on all streaming services on Friday, February 9, 2024 at Midnight EST. The song is self-written by Miller and produced by John Caviness.

Straight out of a rom com, “People Pretending to Be You” is a joyous, indulgent manifestation of finally finding the right person. In the chorus, you can hear Miller’s grin as he sings:

“I always knew you were out there baby/Was just a matter of time/Thank God I wasn’t distracted baby/From all the shimmering lies/From people pretending to be you.”

With its electric guitar pulsing throughout the song like a heartbeat, this release marks a shift into uncharted territory for Miller as he explores big pop for the first time.

For me, I am always thinking story first, production second. Whatever sound best serves the story is what it ends up being. I had been writing mostly acoustic, mellow breakup songs, and then this song just sort of hit me like a ton of bricks. I could see the whole vision, the artwork, the production. It was a real moment of revitalization for me as an artist.
